GEOGRAPHY

The cotton plant (genus Gossypium, family Malvaceae) is a shrub native to India, cultivated in many warm countries for the fibers that surround the seeds at maturity of the fruit. Depending on the country, the plant may be more or less treelike, but it is the herbaceous cotton plant (50-60 cm) that yields the finest fibers
